Tuan Nguyen for Senate: France Presidential Election and the War in Ukraine

Florida

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Sunday April 24, France will hold a run-off election between the incumbent Macron and the far-right candidate Ms. Le Pen. Macron is a  pro-EU, right leaning centrist. Le Pen is a anti-NATO, pro-Russia candidate.

For many Americans, this may be "none of our business" but in fact, this election will have far more consequential impacts that many (would want to) believe. France's eventual reluctance or refusal to participate in aiding Ukraine will make other NATO members question their involvement and that will undermine U.S. efforts to help Ukraine defend itself.

Moreover, the transfer of presidential power will take place in less than 3 weeks from today (before May 14). It is imperative that the French government be convinced to expedite/maximize its military assitance to Ukraine before it becomes too late.
