Dr. Jennifer Zimmerman, the Democratic candidate who ran to unseat Matt Gaetz in 2018, has made her selection for the best candidate to beat Gaetz in 2022. Zimmerman is endorsing Peggy Schiller as the right person to represent Florida’s First district.

“Because I ran for this seat four years ago, I understand what the role entails and how difficult the road is, but it is necessary to ensure that voters have a choice for who represents them. Peggy is approaching this position from the same place I was. Not to boost her ego, but because she has the passion and expertise for the role. Peggy wants to ensure that there is a competent person representing our district,” says Zimmerman.

Zimmerman, who has lived and practiced medicine in Florida’s First since 2001, will lend her medical and political expertise by serving as the Medical Consultant to Schiller’s campaign. “I have decades of experience in the medical field and have strong roots in our community. I want to make sure that Peggy is armed with the knowledge needed to navigate the pandemic and other healthcare issues that our district faces,” says Zimmerman. “I want to ensure that this campaign is coming from a place of knowledge and competency.”

Schiller is thrilled to have Dr. Zimmerman’s support and looks forward to working closely with her in the months ahead. “Jennifer will not only be a strategic resource for driving informed healthcare policy, but she truly understands the needs of our district.” says Schiller. “Jennifer more than anyone understands just how important it is to beat Matt Gaetz and bring true representation back to the First.”

Zimmmerman and Schiller see similarities in one another. Zimmerman says, “Like myself, Peggy did not seek to become a politician, but she is armed with the right knowledge to make a difference.”

The Democratic primary for the First Congressional District will be held on August 23, 2022. More information is available on Schiller’s campaign website, https://
