When my sister Kimberly was sick, my father made a promise to walk to El Santuario every year – and he did. Even as he grew older and even when he wasn't well, he wanted to take every step to Chimayó. I know how important this weekend is to many New Mexicans across the state, and I am so grateful that we can continue our beautiful traditions that are unlike anywhere else on earth.
