We’ve had another incredible week on the campaign trail, and it’s all thanks to the wonderful supporters, friends, and volunteers who are powering this movement from the grassroots up. To everyone who joined me, I can’t thank you enough for your friendship and support.
On Monday, I spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Village at Blenheim Run, which will provide new affordable housing for the Havre de Grace community. As Governor, I’ll continue to promote housing justice by collaborating with local leaders to develop targeted solutions for affordable housing options. Afterwards, I recognized the Susquehanna Hose Company and the Havre de Grace Colored School Museum & Cultural Center for their outstanding contributions to our local community. I then visited the National Law Enforcement and First Responder Wellness Center to show my support for the people who every day work to keep our communities safe.
On Tuesday, I recognized Mr. Joseph Benn for his contributions to the local economy through Alexander’s Barbershop and Salon. Afterwards, I recognized the The Tot Spot consignment shop in Owings Mills, a fantastic shop that offers consignment clothes and products for children. I then headed to Towson University to speak to students as a guest lecturer.
On Thursday, I headed to Baltimore to visit Bikemore, a fantastic organization dedicated to expanding bicycle infrastructure in our great City. We need more bike-friendly infrastructure and bike-friendly policies in our cities, and as Governor I’ll proudly be their ally and advocate. Afterwards, I visited the Central Maryland Transportation Alliance, an organization dedicated to improving and expanding transportation options for our citizens. Under my administration, I’ll build a world-class public transit system to connect our communities and shore up our economy for the 21st century. Later, I met with the No Boundaries Coalition to tour their new facility, and then visited the Mera Kitchen Collective. I finished off with a visit to P.S. 103, once the school of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. Thanks to the advocacy of Reverend Dr. Alvin C. Hathaway, the historic landmark will be renovated into a new academic research and legal advocacy center that will help empower communities in West Baltimore.
On Friday, Monique Anderson-Walker attended the Brewers Association of Maryland Love Thy Beer event in Silver Spring to celebrate Maryland’s thriving craft beer industry and speak with voters. On Saturday, I headed to Columbia to attend GreenFest 2022 in honor of Earth Day. As Governor, I’ll take urgent action to combat climate change and protect our environment. Afterwards, I had an excellent time speaking with voters at the Community Day Celebration at Friendship Heights Village.
On Sunday, I spent a wonderful morning service with the Bilingual Church of Baltimore. Later that day, I rounded out the week by spending time with Team Franchot volunteers at our Pizza Party in Bowie. Learn more about the future we can build together at franchot.com.
