OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KSWO) - The director of Oklahoma’s Department of Veterans Affairs has announced his plan to run for governor.

Joel Kintsel is joining the gubernatorial race for the Republican Party.

He has led the VA department since 2019 and this is his first run for public office.

In his campaign announcement, Kintsel called himself a “Ronald Reagan conservative,” and criticized Governor Stitt’s administration as corrupt and mismanaged.
