I want to bring everyone's attention to LB729 that is being promoted as a bill for "economic development." LB729 creates a slush fund for future governors to use at will. The only oversight, according to the bill, is the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. For clarification, this office of government falls under the executive branch. The executive branch is the Governor. It ignores the branch of government put in place to protect your tax dollars with the 49 voices in the legislature and it opens itself up to outside influence because one of the ways the fund can grow is with outside donations.
Curious that this is happening in an election cycle and it's clear as I speak with Nebraskans that they are unaware this bill is already in its second round of debate with enthusiastic support.
A clear change in power such as this should have gone to a vote of the people. What are your thoughts on this?
