Katie Hobbs Releases Plan for an Affordable Arizona

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Secretary of State and candidate for governor Katie Hobbs introduced her plan to put more money back in Arizonans’ pockets.

Katie is committed to providing much-needed relief to Arizona families, growing the economy, and setting Arizona up for long-term prosperity. This plan – along with Katie’s Inclusive Arizona, Accountable Arizona, and Voting Rights plans – is just the beginning of Katie’s mission to make Arizona the best place to work, live, and raise a family.

The plan is centered on three key objectives:

  • Lowering costs for families with children by establishing a state-level child tax credit, exempting diapers and baby formula from sales taxes, and implementing a sales tax holiday for school supplies.
  • Helping Arizonans get back to work in good-paying jobs by permanently expanding child care assistance and creating a refundable tax credit for career and technical education opportunities.
  • Protecting the health and well-being of Arizona families by exempting necessities like over-the-counter medications and feminine hygiene products from sales taxes.
