Carol Blood for Governor: Women in Public Office Day

Nebraska

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Happy #WomenInPublicOfficeDay! Women make up 51% of our population, but only 1/3rd of our national and local leaders are women. Young women can't be what they can't see. There is research that shows female policymakers are better at emphasizing policy that better reflects the priorities of families and women, as well as ethnic and racial minorities.

Women are less likely than men to reconcile work and family obligations with a political career yet are more likely to focus their political involvement at the local level or in positions that match their stereotypic strengths. Join me today, and every day, in celebrating the contributions of women in politics!
