The concern I have with Sen. Briese’s LB986 isn’t that he’s trying to protect taxpayers; the concern I have is that unfunded and underfunded mandates that the state imposes on political subdivisions like cities and counties is the systemic issue that continues to keep our property taxes high. If we keep putting bandaids on the issue and never address the root cause, property taxes will remain inflated.
