Today I took my kids to their first rally in support of the "Defend and Respect Hawaii's Workers Coalition" and I hope they'll continue to learn the importance of civic participation. As Hawaii continues to open up to to more and more visitors, I believe we need to start thinking of putting the needs of our residents first -beginning with those still waiting for a resolution to their initial unemployment insurance claims. I know the frustrations that thousands have had with our antiquated UI system. Waiting on hold for hours each day, unable to navigate the online application system, or just waiting to get answers to their questions. It's time we get this done and continue to support our working individuals and families so this doesn't happen again.
