Today is the first day of school for many public school students across the islands. As a parent to two elementary school kids, I am nervous, relieved, and grateful. Nervous for the health and safety of all our students and staff; relieved that my children do not have to rely on my limited technology skills when the internet acts up at home; and grateful that they can now be with their friends.Thank you to all the teachers and school staff who are working hard to navigate another uncertain school year. Stay safe 2020-2021 school year is in the books. Proud of these two for getting through distance and blended learning. I was fortunate to be able stay home with them this year to help them through their lessons and I hope they will forgive me for the times I lost my patience (Zoom meetings with kids screaming in the back. After this experience, I am even more grateful for the teachers and staff at Pauoa Elementary for all that they do. Teachers should be the most respected and appreciated profession.I also enjoyed helping with the parking lot in the mornings with the Pauoa Ohana PTA-thanks Jodie Louise Ho'opai Burgess for leading. Reminds me of my safety patrol days in elementary.
