MayorDaniella: Our housing shortage in Miami-Dade is a crisis, so identifying it as one is a great first step. But how much can be accomplished by the county if our largest cities are knocking down what little affordable housing remains and siding with landlords?
Earlier this week, residents in Little Havana got notices that they would have to vacate theiru homes, all because of a petty war between a Miami city commissioner and a local business.
In Congress, I’ll work to expand on this good start, because we need more than building blocks or means-tested bandaids. We need systemic change, worker protections, and a national living wage of at least $15/hour. Serious problems demand serious solutions.
