From my perspective this is unconscionable. Pandering to the environmental community at the expense of our nation’s economy and energy security is damaging our country. Shutting down Arctic oil exploration and development where the most stringent permitting and environmental standards exist and then begging for oil from nations that regularly demonstrate a callous disregard for the environment, would be laughable if it weren’t so sad. Inflation is at a 40-year high with energy costs being one of the primary soaring factors. Gas is over $5.00 a gallon in some parts of the country.
Meanwhile, our trade deficits are growing, American workers are being laid off, local communities that benefit from development are seeing their revenues shrink and more, all the while greater environmental degradation to the world is taking place. This kind of pandering has to end. Some Americans seem hellbent on transitioning to a greener economy. Even with that dream, it will only be achieved with Alaska’s oil, gas and minerals.
