John Witeck was the first to ask me if I would consider running for office after we held a rally at the Capitol on behalf of unemployed workers. I didn't know much about John besides that he was one of the good guys on our board and he knew sports.
When I found out he marched with Dr. King at Selma, risked his life during Bloody Sunday, and the incredible work he has done here in Hawaii, I was floored by his humility. The rest is history and here I am running for office. I am so grateful that our paths crossed and I am more the better because of him.
