My career and community experience

Coming from outside the political establishment and not a career politician, I'm often asked why I chose to run for Congress or for office.

My answer is simple: I have the life and work experience necessary to represent the needs of the people better than many that are now sitting in Congress. Immigrating to this country at 7 years old and raised by a single mother with six kids and now having my own family, I know that I can do a better job in understanding what real people are going through because I've lived these challenges. I know how it feels to be so exhausted working more than one job, to worry about keeping your kids safe in school, and to wonder how you're ever going to keep your head above long enough to simply breathe.

I will take these experiences with me in working to make life better in the laws and policies we pass in Congress. We need more people in elected office who represent our everyday experiences and challenges; who come from the people and will fight for the people and our planet.

My career and community experience as a Legal Aid attorney and board member for various non-profits have been focused on helping our working families, advocating for our seniors, and giving back to the community. For me, these aren't just talking points to adopt for election time but actual work in the community that I can point to. This campaign is not about me but it's about us having a seat at the table and having a say in the direction we are going.

Our first reporting period ends on 12/31 and I have pledged not to accept corporate PAC money. I will rely on a people powered and people centered campaign. Let's prove that political office does not have to belong to the rich and the privileged. It belongs to the people.

Please donate what you can afford and I thank you for your generosity.

Wishing you all the best in 2022!
