HARRISBURG – A grant from PennDOT will support critical transportation upgrades for a local development project that is expected to bring more jobs and economic activity to the region, according to Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman (R-Bellefonte).
The $2.44 million grant will be used to construct the Masters Boulevard/Waddle Road Extension Project for the Toftrees West development in Patton Township. The project will include excavation, paving, sidewalks, a traffic signal and stormwater management to accommodate increased traffic flow in the area.
When the Toftrees West development project is completed, it is estimated to create more than 2,700 new direct jobs and nearly 1,300 indirect jobs. The development will include 2,475 new residential units, as well as new retail, commercial and office space.
“This is a big step forward for this project, which will bring new jobs and housing opportunities that will benefit the local community for years to come,” Corman said. “As the community grows, our local transportation infrastructure has to grow with it. This grant will ensure our transportation system is ready to handle the increased volume without causing a disruption in the community.”
The grant was awarded through PennDOT’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, which finances priority projects in any mode of transportation throughout the state.
