As fans of rock 'n' roll all over the world mourn the loss of rock star Meat Loaf, Southern New Englanders have a 2018 memory to harp on.
Meat Loaf was a guest on a November 2018 episode of "Coffee break" with then-news anchor Frank Coletta. He co-appeared with Steve Grad of "Pawn Stars" and Rhode Island Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea.
"I didn't realize Meat Loaf was going to be there!" Gorbea told NBC 10's Cal Dymowski on Friday. "It turned out to be one of the [most fun] experiences of my interviewing life as a public official."
Meat Loaf, who was born Marvin Lee Aday, died at the age of 74 Thursday night. In a statement from his family and longtime agent, it was noted Aday had numerous health scares over the years. No cause or other details are available currently.
Gorbea remembered the rock star as a warm and down-to-earth man.
"There was no pretense, not nothing. He was just shooting from the hip and being a regular person like you and me," she said.
