Dear campaign manager,

katu news is holding two separate primary debates, one for republican and one for democrat gubernatorial candidates. As determined by a recorded coin toss, katu’s democratic primary debate will be held on april 5, 2022, and the gop primary debate will be held on april 7, 2022, both at 6pm.

Katu has established criteria for which candidates will be invited to participate.

- candidates must have officially registered for their individual primary (gop or dem) with the state by the march 8th deadline. There is no primary for independent candidates.

- candidates must raise $750,000 by thursday, march 31, 2022.

- the fundraising amount must be verified by the oregon secretary of state’s website, which katu will check daily until 11:59pm, march 31, 2022.

The debates will take place in early april, so we extended the cutoff deadline for as long as possible to allow for proper debate planning. As of right now, five republicans and two democrats have met that threshold. If you believe your candidate will meet the $750,000 criteria by march 31st, please contact me.

The debates will be held in the katu studios. We will contact candidates who meet the criteria before or on april 1st with further information about the debate format.

As part of our political coverage, all gubernatorial candidates are invited to participate in our know your candidates online project. By now, your campaign should have received a questionnaire from us. We ask that the questionnaire be filled out with as much depth as you wish to relay to our readers, and we will post it on katu.com

thank you.
