Jeffrey Sossa: Facts matter and I will continue to fight for working families

Massachusetts

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Wait Congressman Jim McGovern tells us everyday income and equality are at the heart of food insecurities, let us expose the reality of Income and equality in District 2 of Massachusetts.

A family of four living in Worcester earning $39,000 a year is clearly below the poverty line Right?

Let’s see if Jim McGovern is correct

Family of Four earning $39,000 a year but fully subsidized by the government

Income                                                        $ 39,000

Childcare for 2 children                               $ 33,912

Snap Benefits                                               $ 11,832

Health Insurance                                          $ 9898

Dental Insurance                                          $ 2,200

WIC Benefits                                                 $ 5,018

Rent subsidizes                                             $ 6,000.00

Gross Income for subsidized families           $ 105,660

Working families of Four earning between $50,000 and $100,000 a year have No subsidies are the families truly in crisis for everything they spend to take care of their families is out of pocket.

A Family of Four earning $85,000 a year in Worcester

$85,000.00 a year minus all government subsidies they don’t receive looks like this.  $85,000.00 minus $68,860.00 out of pocket equals $16,140

Clearly, Congressman Jim McGovern has no clue what income and equality look's like, nor does he understand the crisis he has created against working families.

Facts matter and I will continue to fight for working families while addressing families in poverty, what I will not do is allow this lie of income and equality to continue.
