ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

"This poem was featured at a required assembly at Shrewsbury High School. As a parent, we had no opportunity to decide whether our own children should hear it. That is just wrong. There may well have been kids in that assembly whose parents are police officers.  How is that OK?

We have real problems in this country with criminal justice, discrimination, and violence. And there is nothing wrong with young people exercising their First Amendment rights. But how is it helpful to REQUIRE our kids to listen to something like this?  We have enough hate and division without using our tax dollars to make it worse.  I send my kids to school to learn, not to be indoctrinated with one agenda or another, regardless of what it is.
