Tomorrow, April 25, 2022, the Oklahoma State Election Board will hear a challenge to the candidacy of Madison Horn for the 2022 U.S. Senate race. The Election Board will be asked to determine if Horn’s Declaration of Candidacy is invalid due to false information provided on the form required to run for office in Oklahoma and Horn’s failure to register to vote.
Ms. Horn recently moved to Oklahoma. Contrary to her Declaration under oath on the form, she is not registered to vote and is not a registered Democrat, the party whose nomination she is seeking.
On her Declaration of Candidacy, Ms. Horn stated under oath that she is affiliated with the Democratic Party, but she is not registered to vote as a member of any party. Additionally, she provided a voter ID number that is not registered to any voter in the State of Oklahoma, but later marked through it while still failing to provide any voter ID number at all. She also provided a precinct number at which she alleges she is registered to vote, but is not. Providing false information under oath on a State document is against the law in Oklahoma. Also, the Oklahoma State Election Board’s rules clearly state that incomplete Declarations of Candidacy cannot be accepted.
“Oklahomans deserve to know where candidates for public office stand on important issues and to have the opportunity to vote for and be represented by candidates who are established Oklahomans,” Bollinger commented. “It is also unbelievable that someone who wants to go and vote on issues important to Oklahomans in the U.S. Senate would not take time to register to vote in our own elections. Ms. Horn would not even be able to vote for herself if her name were placed on the ballot today. Being a lifelong Oklahoman, I know that Oklahoma voters will see through the charade Ms. Horn is attempting, but we do not need the distraction on the ballot. If she chooses to remain in Oklahoma, Ms. Horn can properly register to vote and run for office at a later date.”
