Amendment 1 to HB3003 to distribute a FULL statutory PFD failed once again despite our best efforts.

Although today is a very discouraging day, I remain committed in my support of the current statutory dividend formula passed in 1982. Despite all this state has been through, there are reasons to be optimistic. Many Minority members made compelling arguments for the full PFD.

Some of the points that were made. (Paraphrasing here)

“The PFD is not paid, it is distributed. Because the money belongs to the people.” Rep. Sarah Vance

“We have not distributed a PFD in years, because all of the earnings were spent on government and the “PFD” was paid from the General Fund as well as other sources” Rep. Ben Carpenter

More points from other Legislators forthcoming.
