Today, Senator Patty Murray announced her campaign raised more than $1.28 million in the third quarterly fundraising period of her 2022 reelection campaign. Senator Murray’s strong fundraising numbers bring her total cash on hand to more than $5.9 million. Demonstrating strong grassroots support, Senator Murray has an average online donation of $25.25 and more than 12,800 unique contributors in Q3 alone.

“It means so much to me to know that supporters from every part of Washington state are in this fight with me as I work to send a once-in-a-generation investment in our kids and families to President Biden’s desk,” said Senator Murray. “Right now, I’m focused on passing a historic piece of legislation that will create millions of good-paying jobs while tackling climate change, lower costs for child care, health care, and education, and do so much more to finally level the playing field for working families—paid for by making sure the wealthiest and big corporations finally pay their fair share. I’m going to keep listening to voters in Washington state and I’ll be carrying their stories with me as I fight to go big for our families in the other Washington on some of the most pressing challenges facing our country right now.”

Senator Murray currently serves as the Chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee and also serves as a senior member of the Senate Appropriations, Budget, and Veteran Affairs Committees.

At the start of this Congress, Murray played a pivotal role in crafting major provisions of the American Rescue Plan. This legislation has brought a historic and desperately needed influx of billions of federal dollars into Washington state to save lives and livelihoods, helping get shots in arms,  money in pockets, and kids back to school safely to begin to turn the corner on COVID-19.

Currently, she is helping to write the Build Back Better budget, advancing major priorities for Washington state families like affordable child care for everyone who needs it and a landmark investment in climate action to protect our planet and create millions of good-paying, union jobs.

Senator Murray, a former preschool teacher, famously ran for office after fighting to save a preschool program on the chopping block, when a state legislator told her she was, “Just a mom in tennis shoes… You can’t make a difference.” From that moment, Patty Murray mobilized more than 13,000 parents to eventually save that preschool program from budget cuts. Murray went on to serve as a school board member and state senator before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 1992. She has been fighting for Washington state’s workers, families, and communities ever since.
