Today, Senator Patty Murray announced her campaign raised more than $1.45 million in the fourth quarterly fundraising period of her 2022 reelection campaign. Senator Murray’s strong fundraising numbers bring her total cash on hand to more than $6.93 million. Demonstrating strong grassroots support, Senator Murray had an average online donation of $25.77 this quarter and more than 17,000 contributions in Q4 alone, with contributors from every county in Washington state.

“I am so grateful our campaign has been able to count on strong support from every part of Washington state as I speak with and hear from voters in every community,” said Senator Murray. “My commitment to the voters in Washington state is that I’ll keep working every day to bring our state’s values and priorities to the other Washington and getting things done for our families and communities. I’m determined to keep fighting this pandemic and make progress on lowering costs for things like health care, child care, housing, and education, tackling big challenges like the climate crisis, and building a stronger, fairer economy for everyone in Washington state. ”

Senator Murray currently serves as the Chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee and also serves as a senior member of the Senate Appropriations, Budget, and Veteran Affairs Committees.

At the start of this Congress, Murray played a pivotal role in crafting major provisions of the American Rescue Plan. This legislation has brought a historic and desperately needed influx of billions of federal dollars into Washington state to save lives and livelihoods, helping get shots in arms,  money in pockets, and kids back to school safely to begin to turn the corner on COVID-19.

Currently, Senator Murray continues to lead the Senate in fighting the pandemic, working to keep families safe and healthy, supporting small businesses in Washington state, and keeping kids in school safely. Concurrently, Murray is fighting to pass major longtime priorities for Washington state families like making child care affordable for everyone who needs it, addressing the housing crisis, lowering health care and prescription drug costs,  and securing a landmark investment in climate action to protect our planet and create millions of good-paying, union jobs.

Senator Murray, a former preschool teacher, famously ran for office after fighting to save a preschool program on the chopping block, when a state legislator told her she was, “Just a mom in tennis shoes… You can’t make a difference.” From that moment, Patty Murray mobilized more than 13,000 parents to eventually save that preschool program from budget cuts. Murray went on to serve as a school board member and state senator before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 1992. She has been fighting for Washington state’s workers, families, and communities ever since.
