Today is the first National Unclaimed Property Day

Kansas

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Today  is the first National Unclaimed Property Day. For years I've advocated  returning forgotten assets to their rightful owners as the former Kansas  State Treasurer and now in Congress. The Treasury Department holds  nearly $210 million in unclaimed bonds owed to Kansans. In 2019 I  introduced bipartisan legislation requiring the U.S. Treasury to  transfer records and ownership of unclaimed, matured savings bonds to  states to find the legal owners and heirs. Learn about the day at https://swsmmagazine.com/.../february-1-is-national.../ and search Kansas' database: https://kansascash.ks.gov/up_main.html.
