February is Black History Month. Each week I’m highlighting Kansans who  have shaped our community and influenced our nation’s history. Today we  highlight Gale Sayers, Pro Football and College Football Hall of Famer.  Known as the “Kansas Comet,” Sayers was the star of the University of  Kansas football team from 1962-64. He later signed with the Chicago  Bears and broke NFL records in his rookie season for most touchdowns and  most total yards. Born in Wichita, Sayers is remembered not only for  his contributions to the sport of football, but also his contributions  to our state. #KansasHistory
