Congress has sent millions of dollars to Kansas to assist in providing unemployment benefits

Kansans  impacted by unemployment at no fault of their own continue to call my  office daily with troubling stories about their experience with the  Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL). Congress has sent millions of dollars  to Kansas to assist in providing unemployment benefits. That’s why it’s  deeply concerning that nearly a year into the pandemic, there are still  so many challenges with KDOL. As a state agency, it reports directly to  the governor, but even still, my office has placed hundreds of courtesy  calls and emails on behalf of constituents with little response. On  Friday, I joined my colleagues and state leaders on a letter to Governor  Laura Kelly on behalf of hurting Kansans. We can’t rely on the status  quo. After four different Labor secretaries and millions of dollars in  aid to help fix any lingering issues, Kansans deserve real answers and  real results.
