March is Women’s History Month. Each week I’m highlighting Kansans who are making a difference and excelling in their field. Today we highlight Adrienne Byrne, director of the Sedgwick County Health Department. Byrne served in various roles with the Sedgwick County Health Department since 1988, after earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kansas State University. She has served in her current role since 2014 and has been on the frontlines in our battle against COVID-19. Leading Sedgwick County’s prevention, treatment and vaccination efforts, she has played a critical role in the health and safety of our community. (Byrne, right, and a nurse with Rep. Estes during his visit to the Sedgwick County vaccination site in February.)
