Joshua Revak for Congress: Federal Government Announced to Close Half of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska to Oil and Gas Development

On Monday, the Federal Government announced a decision to close half of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska to oil and gas development. This decision is shortsighted and further limits Alaska and the United States’ energy and economic potential. The NPRA was set aside for the specific purpose oil and gas exploration and development. When we shut down or limit production here in Alaska we don’t decrease the demand, but rather we increase the global consumption from foreign, potentially environmentally unfriendly, countries.

The disconnect between the Department of the Interior and Alaska is extreme. I had hoped the Secretary of the Interior would listen to the people of Alaska on her recent visit to the State. I am incredibly disappointed by this decision and will continue to fight for Alaskan’s right to responsibly develop our resources: https://apnews.com/.../business-environment-alaska-land... #akleg
