Grant funding to go toward building a medical and dental office to expand patient care options.
BELLEFONTE – Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) and Sen. Jake Corman (R-Centre/Mifflin/Juniata/Huntingdon) announced Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM), a clinic providing eligible county residents with free medical and dental care, will be receiving a $1 million state grant.
The grant funding, part of the Commonwealth’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), will go toward building a medical and dental clinic as well as office space. According to CVIM, the facility will provide an affordable, long-term solution by providing more exam rooms, counseling rooms, dental procedure rooms, and offices.
“I am very excited about being able to secure this timely grant given the current health challenges facing the Centre County community. I am also proud to work with Rep. Rich Irvin and Sen. Corman to bring your state tax dollars back home,” Benninghoff said. “As a former healthcare worker and county coroner, I know the importance of having comprehensive medical services available in our community. This grant will help CVIM provide more services to a greater number of people in Centre County.”
Sen. Corman also noted how the grant will help expand healthcare services in the area.
“CVIM has played a critical role in meeting the health care needs of our community for more than two decades, including helping thousands of our friends and neighbors get vaccinated against COVID-19 over the past year,” Corman said. “I am thankful this grant will allow them to expand their operations to serve even more local families.”
