“I am saddened to learn of the passing of Bill Ball of Abundance Bakery. My condolences go out to Jan, his wife, and Bill’s family and friends. He was a pillar of the Bronzeville community. He believed in the community. He grew up in Bronzeville. He met his wife there. He built partnerships among the business owners. He created opportunities for our young people by providing them with their first jobs. I know his legacy will be carried forward as we anticipate that Abundance Barkey will be opening a new location in Bronzeville. I will be there looking for a piece of caramel cake,” said Ald. Pat Dowell, candidate for the Democratic nomination for Illinois’ 1st Congressional District.
