Huntington, IN - Gary Snyder, Democratic candidate for Congress in Indiana’s Third Congressional District, released the following statement following the release from the Department of Transportation awarding Indiana over $400 million dollars under their 5-year funding formula for states to repair or replace bridges under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (3), which Jim Banks voted against, implying repairing and replacing bridges in Indiana’s Third District is “Socialism.”

“Bridges in Huntington, Fort Wayne, and all across the Third District are in dire need of repair and replacement. The $400 million dollars coming to Indiana from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, with tens of millions benefiting the Third District, is more than welcome news. Unfortunately, Jim Banks voted against safe bridges for constituents in Columbia City, Auburn, Bluffton and at the rest of the district by voting against the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill,” Snyder said. “Maybe if Jim would leave his million dollar home in Virginia and actually drive his district, he would recognize the state of disrepair our bridges are in. Safe bridges should not be a partisan issue and as your next Congressman, I will always vote to make bridges safer for our community,” Snyder added
