Ron Wyden: Ending the unjust cannabis prohibition

Oregon

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

The decades-long War on Drugs has failed in nearly every conceivable way.

It's racially biased.

It's unjust.

Wasteful.

Cruel.

Ineffective.

That's why I'm working to end it. Immediately. Starting with abolishing the federal prohibition of cannabis.

I am committed to taking real action on this issue, which is why I'll be introducing comprehensive cannabis reform legislation.

I'm leading the fight in the Senate, and I'm proud to have the support of my friend and fellow Oregonian, Earl Blumenauer in the House. I'm determined to not only end the prohibition, but to right the wrongs it inflicted. We'll be working with community leaders and activists to ensure restorative justice for Black and Brown Americans that were targeted by this dangerous policy.

I'll be sure to keep you updated on our progress as we move forward with this critical, long-overdue work.
