Ron Wyden: What big polluters are thinking today

Oregon

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Like so many Oregonians, I have a deep, unwavering appreciation for the natural beauty of our state and the endless outdoor spaces and opportunities it has to offer.

In Oregon, Earth Day is an opportunity to recommit to doing what so many of us do each and every day: protecting our great state's clean air, water, and land for future generations.

It's also as great a moment as any to make a big announcement—that I am joining Senator Ed Markey and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as we reintroduce the Green New Deal.

It's not enough to simply defend Oregon's rivers and mountains, her coasts and valleys—we must be a part of a greater movement to save our planet and move humanity into a new generation of clean energy, good-paying green energy jobs, and tackling the climate crisis in earnest.

We know that big polluters and climate deniers aren't going to stop trying to slow down climate action.

That's why we can't ever let up. Because we can't take our state, country, and planet for granted, and we must create a world with opportunities that are sustainable.

Because we only have one Earth, so let's protect it with all we've got.
