Ron Wyden: An important time for an important cause

Oregon

With the upcoming cold snap, this winter is about to get even harder for too many families in our communities across Oregon.

I cannot think of a more important time to support Oregon's local food banks.

Independent from politics, one of my top priorities has always been ensuring that every Oregon family can put food on the table.

Job creation and economic recovery are important, of course – they're critical to ending hunger for the long term.

But families are facing hunger and food insecurity right now, and long-term solutions aren't enough. We must also offer an immediate lifeline to people struggling this holiday season and beyond.

The Oregon Food Bank does just that. And we need to have their back with all of our strength and determination.

After all, this is what America is and what America should be: a place where people come together to help each other. So join me in pitching in to help your neighbors in need.

Let's be that lifeline, and do everything we can for our communities.
