Democrats and Republicans don't agree on much these days, but here's something that shouldn't be partisan or controversial: children should not live in poverty.

Over the last year, the monthly child tax credit payments have proven to change the lives of millions of American families. These payments helped lift nearly 4 million children out of poverty. That number is staggering and proves that direct cash payments can make a real difference to families in need.

And if you qualified to receive the monthly payments in 2021, you may be entitled to additional assistance when you file your upcoming tax returns.

The monthly child tax credit was a success by all accounts and must be renewed. But in order to get this and other progressive priorities across the finish line, we need to protect and expand our razor-thin Democratic majority in the Senate. So I hope you'll join me by pitching in to help carry our grassroots momentum through November to do just that.

I won't stop fighting tooth and nail for this proven and effective strategy to keep children out of poverty

This is an essential investment in American children and families. It's a no-brainer.
