Sierra Club, a Leader of the National Grassroots Environmental Movement, Endorses Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi for Re-election
Leaders of the grassroots organization have determined that due to his consistent history on climate issues, his leadership on the Solar Caucus, and his vocal efforts to hold major polluters accountable, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi is the best candidate to navigate the citizens of IL-08 through challenges posed by man-made climate change.

SCHAUMBURG, IL- Today, Sierra Club announced its endorsement of Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi for re-election to represent Illinois’ 8th congressional district. As America’s largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization leading a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, activist-led movement to combat man-made climate change, this endorsement signals a strong wave of progressive support for Congressman Raja and the work that he has accomplished in Illinois’ 8th district and in Washington D.C.
This prominent endorsement comes on the heels of the announcement that Planned Parenthood Action Fund has endorsed Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi for re-election as well, serving as a reminder that his support extends far beyond the district and has captured the support of activists, social movement leaders, and concerned citizens nationally.
In a formal endorsement letter penned by Sierra Club President Ramon Cruz and Co-Chair of the Sierra Club Political Team Susana Reyes cited Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi’s “demonstrated commitment to protecting America’s environment.”
Congressman Raja responded by saying, “I’m elated to be endorsed by Sierra Club, which is at the helm of America’s largest grassroots environmental movement. This endorsement signifies our strong grassroots support and strong track record on the environment.”
