Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley – Protecting the rights of cisgender and transgender women and girls

Massachusetts

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Like everyone in our communities, cisgender and transgender women and girls do not live in “check boxes” – they are impacted by the intersection of policies – education policy, housing policy, economic policy, transportation policy, healthcare policy – the list goes on.

In the face of continued efforts to roll back critical protections for women’s health and civil rights, it’s more important than ever that our leaders in Congress are steadfastly committed to highlighting the role women and girls play in our communities, addressing the inequities they continue to face, and fighting for their fundamental rights.

It’s more important than ever that we say “abortion is healthcare,” that we remove barriers and safeguard access to critical reproductive care, that we hold accountable those who would exercise control over individuals’ bodies. And it’s more important than ever that we fight to close the gender wage gap, that we resist efforts to roll back Title IX, that we stand side-by-side with survivors, that we address the crisis of maternal mortality, and dismantle policies that deny women and girls an equitable opportunity to access education, buy a house, or get a job.
