Alderman and Committeeman Pat Dowell will file petitions to run for the Democratic nominee for First Congressional District Representative in Illinois on Monday, March 7 in Springfield. She will be in line at 7:00 am at 2329 South MacArthur Blvd in Springfield at the State Board of Elections.
The campaign will file more than 2,200 petitions from all across the district and every ward in the city.
Dowell said, “We have been campaigning all over the district, getting to know voters, listening to their concerns, and garnering their support. Through COVID and cold weather, we were warmed by the interactions with voters. We discussed with voters my commitment to bringing federal resources back to the district, preventing gun violence, small business development, affordable, accessible health care, and protecting our seniors. Our campaign is ready to take on the next phase and is looking forward to being on the ballot, winning the Democratic nomination, and in November winning the election to Congress.”
Dowell Finance Committee member Laurel Appell Lipkin added, “I have known Pat Dowell for thirty years, worked for her and with her in different capacities, and know her to be a person of principle and discipline. She possesses the important and necessary qualities to represent this historic 1st Congressional District. She is hardworking, energetic, collaborative, thorough, thoughtful, and politically astute. She has proven herself time and time again in many different areas. She will be focused and fair, an excellent addition to the Illinois Congressional Delegation.
