Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger is pleased to announce that she will be hosting Vietnam Veteran Commendation ceremonies next week to honor nearly 300 local Vietnam-era veterans and their families for their sacrifice and distinguished service. Additional ceremonies will be announced in upcoming months.

Congresswoman Harshbarger partnered with the U.S. Vietnam War Commemoration, a nationwide 50th anniversary recognition that began in 2012, to honor Vietnam-era veterans and surviving family members for their service. Participating Vietnam-era veterans will receive a commemorative lapel pin and a congressional commendation certificate. Vietnam-era veterans of the First Congressional District can register to participate on Harshbarger’s website. Additional veteran and military service recognition commendations are also available.

To date, Harshbarger has pinned or mailed commemoration recognition packages to 3,626 Vietnam-era veterans and families across East Tennessee.

“I’m proud to be a partner of the 50th Anniversary Vietnam War Commemoration. I take great pride in presenting these special lapel pins as a token of gratitude for sacrifices our veterans have made. Over three thousand Vietnam-era veterans and families in East Tennessee have signed up on my website to be recognized. I’ve been pinning and pinning and pinning across the district to take every opportunity to say, ‘THANK YOU’ and ‘WELCOME HOME,’ on behalf of our great nation," said Congresswoman Harshbarger.
