Today, the Lee Administration announced global IT and business consulting company CGI, Inc. will open a new operation in Knoxville. CGI's new location will create 300 new jobs for East Tennesseans and generate economic activity in Knoxville through a $27 million investment. CGI will also partner with local higher education institutions like the University of Tennessee to help train and retain students in East Tennessee.
U.S. Representative Tim Burchett(TN-02) applauded the efforts of the Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development to attract CGI to Knoxville, saying this decision shows East Tennessee is an excellent place to do business.
"It is great news CGI is coming to Knoxville and I am excited to welcome them to our community," Rep. Burchett said. "The number one reason why East Tennessee is great for business is because of our hard-working, talented folks and CGI clearly recognized this in their decision to open new operations in our area. I'm looking forward to the successes our people and CGI will have working together."
