John Moolenaar for Congress: Pipelines are Vital for American Energy

Michigan

Today, many Americans in the southeast and mid Atlantic are waiting in long lines for gas after the Colonial Pipeline was shut down this weekend by a cyberattack. Gas stations are running out of fuel as Americans try to fill up after driving over the weekend.

“This weekend’s cyberattack on the Colonial Pipeline demonstrates the vital role pipelines play in providing Americans with reliable, affordable energy. Pipelines are the safest way to transport energy and it’s wrong to shut them down. President Biden should be pursuing every energy option our country has and he should immediately allow construction of the Keystone Pipeline to move forward, ensuring more energy for our nation,” said Congressman Moolenaar. “It is also important to increase cybersecurity for critical infrastructure and make sure we protect Americans from those who would do us harm.”

Earlier this year, President Biden issued an executive order blocking the construction of the Keystone Pipeline. In Michigan, Line 5 which delivers energy to residents in Michigan, Ohio, and Canada, has been ordered to shut down by tomorrow by the State of the Michigan.
