WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Peter Meijer (R-MI) this week joined 70 of his colleagues in sending a letter to Comptroller General Gene Didaro requesting that the U.S. Government Accountability Office (USGAO) investigate the Biden Administration’s suspension of border wall construction.

“The crisis on our southern border is unacceptable,” said Rep. Meijer. “As ranking member of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Oversight, Management, and Accountability, I joined my colleagues in the House and Senate calling for the USGAO to investigate President Biden’s suspension of border security improvements funded through bipartisan appropriations. During a time when illegal border crossings are spiking, it is abundantly clear that Republicans must take the lead on this critical issue.”

Excerpt from the letter to Comptroller General Dodaro:

We are writing to be added as co-requesters of a March 17, 2021 letter, signed by 40 United States Senators, requesting the Government Accountability Office’s investigation and legal opinion on the actions of the Biden Administration to suspend border wall construction and to order a freeze of funds provided by Congress for that purpose, which we believe violated the Impoundment Control Act.
