Congresswoman Miller Hosts Medicare Roundtable with West Virginia Seniors

West Virginia

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) today hosted a roundtable in Beckley, West Virginia, with seniors to discuss their experiences with Medicare, specifically Medicare Advantage. Representatives from the Coalition for Medicare Choices and members of the West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees also participated.

“Thank you to all of the seniors who spent the afternoon with me and shared their Medicare experiences," said Congresswoman Miller. "Everyone needs efficient, effective, and affordable health care options that suit their needs. Medicare Advantage is exactly that. It offers our seniors the same benefits as Medicare, but also offers additional ones like vision, hearing, and dental. I am committed to supporting Medicare Advantage in Congress, and making sure West Virginia’s seniors have access to comprehensive, reliable, affordable health coverage choices.”

Earlier this year, Congresswoman Miller signed onto a bipartisan letter to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure expressing strong support for the Medicare Advantage program. The letter also asks the Biden Administration to provide a stable rate and policy environment for Medicare Advantage, including protecting important benefits such as programs focused on addressing health equity, in-home health risk assessments, and value-based insurance design. Medicare Advantage provides high-quality care to 27 million older adults and people with disabilities, and more than 153,000 beneficiaries in West Virginia.
