I'm back from the Senate floor, where I just voted to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson as this country's next Supreme Court Justice.
I have one word for you right now: Wow.
What a day, friends. I am humbled and thrilled by what just happened.
Judge Jackson will be a terrific addition to the court – not just because of her record and background, which are among the most accomplished we've ever seen.
But this is about so much more.
When my friend and colleague Cory Booker said that no one was going to steal his joy over this momentous occasion, it's impossible not to agree.
Judge Jackson represents a new generation of inclusion for Black women and girls. Alongside Vice President Kamala Harris and leaders in each state across America, we're seeing the dawn of a brighter, more equitable future.
We have a lot of work to do over the coming months to deliver on that promise of hope. But I know that's exactly what we'll do.
