Remember when Donald Trump kept declaring it was "infrastructure week"? His inability to make progress became a late-night punchline.
But the state of infrastructure in our country is no joke. Earlier this year, the American Society of Civil Engineers gave our national system a grade of C-.
And now, with President Biden's leadership, we got it done. On Friday, I helped the House pass a bipartisan infrastructure bill. It's a huge investment in America's future.
There are many things in this infrastructure package to help families and businesses in Oregon and across the country; here are a few:
Critical upgrades to roads, highways, bridges, ports, and airports
Removal of lead pipes from water systems
The largest investment in public transit and rail in our nation's history!
More electric vehicle infrastructure and zero/low emissions bus fleets
Major expansion of broadband
Next up, we'll pass the Build Back Better plan to provide universal pre-K, affordable child care, meaningful policies to address climate change, workforce funding, and more.
Our work will help millions of people get living-wage jobs, bring our transportation system into the 21st Century, reduce harmful carbon emissions, and deliver transformational change for our communities. I'm ready to Build Back Better!
