This month has been a grim reminder about the importance of voting rights and defending democracy. Across the country states are passing laws that make it harder to vote, putting our democracy at risk. Yet every single Republican in the U.S. Senate voted against the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act.
Voting is a right, not a privilege. It's the heart and soul of our democracy. But too many Republicans in Congress seem intent on suppressing it.
We must not let them take the majority in Congress. Kevin McCarthy and his GOP allies only need to flip five seats, and they are working hard to do that. Recently, McCarthy raised $9.5 million at a fundraiser at the Trump Hotel in DC.
Here's what we know: A 50/50 Senate and a five-seat majority in the House isn't enough. We're building this grassroots movement of people like you, who understand that the right to vote is essential to our democracy.
