Suzanne Bonamici: A major milestone for our country and our judiciary

Today I felt a tremendous amount of joy as I sat in the gallery of the U.S. Senate to watch the historic confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson. She is an exceptionally qualified jurist who will be the first Black woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court.

And for the first time in its history, the Supreme Court will have four women. Our work toward a more perfect union must include a government that reflects the people it represents. Judge Jackson's confirmation is yet another step in this uphill climb toward equality.

This confirmation is a major milestone for our country and our judiciary. Please join me in congratulating and celebrating Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
