McKinley: “We must stop making promises to environmental activists that hurt American families”

Washington, DC – Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E. (WV-01) participated in a joint meeting of the Committees on Energy and Commerce, Natural Resources and House Select Climate Republicans for a special forum, Pain at the Pump: Biden’s War on American Energy, to discuss President Biden’s anti-American energy policies that have driven record-high gas prices and aided Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

“The Biden Administration is desperate to divert the American people’s attention from his failed policies, which have driven gas prices to new record highs. Now, the Administration is attempting to hide by blaming Russia for the spike in gas prices,” said McKinley. “But we all know gas prices have been rising since the day President Biden took office and began implementing his anti-American energy agenda.”

“Democrats continue to ignore the most expedient solution to lowering gas prices and energy costs in favor of appeasing their far-left environmental activists. They are totally tone-deaf. We must restore American energy independence, by removing restrictions and ramping up the production of coal, oil and gas that will ease the pain at the pump that West Virginia families are feeling,” said McKinley.

Background:

The price for a gallon of gas spiked in the first year of Biden's presidency, up $1.39 a gallon, which occurred before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Note: Prices reflect a gallon of conventional or regular gas a consumer would buy from a retail seller.
