Springfield, IL – Today, Nikki Budzinski, candidate for Congress in Illinois’ 13th Congressional District, announced that her campaign has submitted over 2,500 nominating petition signatures to the Illinois State Board of Election on the first day petition signatures can be accepted.

Budzinski collected 6 times the 400 signatures required to get on the ballot as a Congressional candidate in Illinois this year. Budzinski further showed the strength of her grassroots organizing program by collecting signatures from all 7 counties in Illinois’ 13th Congressional District and from 120 circulators who passed signatures in their own community.

Budzinski made the following statement: “The number of signatures we collected sends a clear signal about the kind of campaign I am going to run: a grassroots, issue-focused campaign where we show up and talk to voters in every county and every town in IL13. I am tremendously grateful to the 120 volunteers that helped circulate our petitions and am thankful for your trust. I’m excited to be on the ballot and look forward to meeting voters in the 13th district over the next few months.”
